The Way of Will

Stand Your Ground
The struggle is real.
Life isn't always glamorous.
Things change in the blink of an eye.
How do we manage to respond to each situation effectively?
Stress and pain cause us to tighten up.
Feeling constricted, we take flight, fight, or freeze.
If we can relax the tension, if we can surrender, we find a way through.
Yoga unites opposites, our attraction and aversion.
What lies between both extremes in the middle?
Where is the bridge that connects duality and singularity?
The breath stabilizes the mind and body.
Reaching for the silent whisper allows us to find our strength amidst adversity.
It is always there. We must return to it gradually, back to the space that holds everything together.
Are you living the practice and walking the talk?

About Me
The Spark: My journey began in a cold desert in 2008, a place where I first started to let go of a heavy burden of unresolved pain. Though I didn't know it then, a seed was planted. It wasn't until a few years later, in a Hatha yoga class in New York, that I felt a profound sense of inner happiness for the very first time. I realized in that moment, presence reveals a self-abiding peace, but you must cultivate this foundation. This sheer recognition alone was cause for spontaneous delight that I felt naturally, no matter how alien it was to me at the time. Thus, my curiosity paved the way forward.

My Driving Purpose: Yoga sparked a flash that drove away the forces that were diminishing my spirit, covered up behind dullness and ignorance. Now it is my mission to share that same spark with you. In a world that so often looks towards the circumference, I want to guide you back to the center of your own being and brilliance. My greatest fulfillment comes from helping others find their sense of wholeness and transformation- a service that is more rewarding than any praise or following. Notwithstanding, the world at large can seem void of connection and authenticity. So, it is important to care for ourselves first, which will help us care for each other; once we can accept our flaws, it becomes easier to let go and express ourselves without trying to fit in. Finding common ground is easier than we believe, and at a time when there is global insecurity, we need to align collectively, so the world transforms into a haven of safety and inclusivity.

What Makes My Teaching Unique: My teaching is grounded in the belief that Yoga is not about performance or perfection. It is not about a certain brand of clothes or an idealistic pose you see on social media. It is about an honest, humble practice of reclaiming your identity. It is an inquiry into your true nature, which begins with noticing a simple breath to slow down the constant mental gymnastics. Through this practice, we undo what no longer serves us, creating space to discover what remains throughout the entire unfoldment. My teaching is a guide back to your core, a continual practice of compassion and discovery. So often we hear the Sanskrit word, Namaste. I believe this meaning contains the entire essence of Yoga. To see the world as your mirror, as something part of you, transforms every relationship into a beacon of shared beauty. If you love yourself, you love the world, because the world is you. We are all here on this planet for the same reason. Make no mistake, there are none.

Places of Study
I graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Georgia in 2013. This cemented my passion to travel and see the world since culture has always been a huge interest of mine. Since then, I've lived across the United States, Argentina, Turkey, and now China. If I am not teaching Yoga, I'm teaching English to little kids. This bridge also shapes my understanding about myself, language, and the role we all play in collective development, regardless of age. If anything, children are my greatest teachers as well.

The Omega Institute. Rhinebeck, NY. 2010-2011. I studied with Anthony Ward, a visionary artist who combines Ikebana with a touch of psychedelia. Living within the Omega institute gave me the opportunity to study from a wide range of lectures and classes from the JIvamukti School of Yoga and Gleen Black, a prominent Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher. https://www.eomega.org

Mount Madonna Institute. Watsonville, CA. 2013-2014. The Yoga, Service, and Community I+II programs helped me understand the nature of Karma Yoga. Our actions affect not only ourselves but the whole environment. Selflessness through rightful action disengages our fixation on the 'doer', revealing the pure awareness that simply remains undivided from cause and effect, me and you, this and that. Baba Hari Dass, a monk in silence for over sixty years, still remains the inspiration behind MMI. He would use a chalkboard to answer questions from devotees while acting as a beacon of hope for those aspiring to reach higher levels of freedom. https://mountmadonna.org/
